Grass Cutter Sangay is a community-focused non-profit organization founded in 2020 in the heart of Bhutan’s Himalayan region. What started as one person’s desire to help elderly neighbors with their overgrown gardens has grown into a movement of community service and environmental stewardship.
Our founder, Sangay Dorji, noticed that many elderly residents in our community struggled to maintain their outdoor spaces. With limited mobility and no family nearby to help, their gardens became overgrown and neglected. Sangay decided to take action, starting with his own grass cutter and a simple mission: to help those who cannot help themselves.
Today, Grass Cutter Sangay has grown to include a team of dedicated volunteers who provide grass cutting, landscaping, and community cleanup services. We serve elderly residents, low-income families, and public spaces throughout our region.
Our work is more than just cutting grass. It’s about building community, teaching environmental responsibility, and creating opportunities for local youth to engage in meaningful service. We believe that a cleaner, greener environment benefits everyone, and that community service strengthens the bonds that hold us together.
